Hexan (C6H14) kommt nicht im Erd-gas vor. Es ist ein zu den Alkanen gehörender gesättigter Kohlenwas-serstoff mit einem Siedepunkt von etwa 70 °C und bei Normalbedingungen daher flüssig. Der Hauptbestandteil von Erdgas ist Methan. Dazu kommen kleinere Anteile von Äthan, Propan, Stickstoff und Kohlendioxid sowie Schwefelstoff.
